Week 7 – Reflection – Cobb 8 – Salvation

I really enjoyed the section in the beginning when Cobb disects the Western similar to what we did in class.  The kind of redemptive violence is something we crave.  In stories, good and bad is often fairly well defined and we usually know who to root for.  Thus, the violence seems justified.  Though probably a select few of us would ever find ourselves in a similar situation, it is easy to identify with the hero.  But perhaps we are drawn to this because of a lack of redemptive celebration in church that Cobb points out.  Not that the movies themselves are bad, but maybe the church needs to change to get to that point
