Coming from this subculture of sci-fi nerds, I found the conversation quite fascinating.  I found it interesting that there have been actual studies on this and that, in a way, I am part of it as I have contributed to creating texts (and Christian ones! see blog entry below).  I would wonder if any of the original creators feel any sort of anger or contempt towards those who reinvent their texts…

but I would heartily agree with Professor Bolger that the church can work in these subcultures in a similar fashion.
